Under the USAID-funded BALADI program, the René Moawad Foundation (RMF) has launched a tender for installing solar energy systems for water pumping in the villages of Ansar and Qsaybe (District of Nabatiyeh). The BALADI program aims at assisting challenged municipalities in implementing needed community development activities that meet community priorities and that provide needed public services. Following the signature of the contract for “Consultancy Services for the Development of a Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) Plant in Hermel, Lebanon”, the kick-off meeting of the project is set on Wednesday, 3 February 2021. The study will be conducted by the joint venture comprising Consolidated Engineering Company (Khatib & Alami, Lebanon) and Mercados Aries International SA (Spain). Among different tasks, the consultants will assess the feasibility study of installing and operating a CSP plant in the Hermel area with a minimum capacity of 50 MW and 7.5 hours of storage. The study is funded by a grant by the Facility for Infrastructure Development Develop to Build (D2B) of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs represented by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency.
