Dr. Al Assad graduated with an engineering diploma from the Lebanese University in 2004. In 2005, he got his masters in microwave, electromagnetics and electromagnetism from the University of Paul Sabatier, Toulouse- France. In 2008, he received his PhD in electrical, electronics and telecommunications engineering earning the jury’s highest recommendation.
Since 2008, Dr. Al Assad is assistant professor at the Holy Spirit University (USEK) teaching several electrical engineering courses, chairing and vice-chairing different departments. His research covers different aspects of renewable energy, energy modeling, energy statistics and energy efficiency, publishing several articles and participating in different conferences as a speaker or member of organizing and scientific committees.
Since 2011, Dr. Al Assad is an advisor at the Ministry of Energy and Water and at the Lebanese Center for Energy Conservation (LCEC). He is leading a number of vital initiatives files such as the preparation of the Lebanese Renewable Energy Strategy and the Lebanese Energy Statistics Review. He is also member of the inter-ministerial committee working on the evaluation of the first bid for a wind farm by the private sector.
Since 2012, Dr. Al Assad is secretary-in-charge of the World Energy Council (WEC) Lebanon Committee.
